Hi, I’m Mahfuz.
PathMotion: Platform Redesign
Role
Senior Product Designer (UX/UI)
Impact
Increased user engagement and platform efficiency
Objective
Enhance usability and design consistency for PathMotion, a recruitment technology platform
Problem Statement
Process
Competitor Analysis
Drew inspiration from platforms like Glassdoor and LinkedIn to create an engaging space for information sharing
User Feedback
Gathered user insights through interviews and feedback sessions
Solutions
Short term
Designed and developed a dedicated search results page, replacing PathMotion’s old in-line popup method. We incorporated Meilisearch for faster and more accurate results, reducing search times from over 5 seconds to 100-150 milliseconds.
The ease of use combined with the increased speed resulted in a 500% increase in search funnel completion within two weeks of launch.
Medium term
User and Client Interviews
Conducted interviews with 25 selected users for qualitative insights prior to cementing any changes – these initial user interviews helped to shape and confirm updates prior to full platform changes.
Maintained ongoing communication with 10 highly engaged users for continuous feedback.
Client Success - Team Collaboration
Participated in calls and ran client interviews to understand their needs from the platform
Some of the clients we worked with were major names, such as Coca Cola Europe and MARS. Given their significant market presence, they were understandably cautious about how a platform-wide redesign might affect their returns.
To address their concerns, I presented design prototypes and explained the reasoning behind the changes, ensuring they understood the benefits and potential impact on their business.
Long term
Standardised Branding
Developed a ‘colour logic’ system to standardise branding while maintaining accessibility. This system ensured a consistent visual identity across the platform while still aligning with client brand guidelines and user expectations.
Accessibility and User Understanding
Conducted WCAG assessments to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, as well as simplifying the UI to improve cognition and mitigate the overload mentioned by many users during interviews.
"It looks cluttered"
"There's too much going on"
"I can't find what I need"
Outcomes
Improved Site Speed
Significantly faster search functionality and overall user experience
Increased User Engagement
Metrics such as new signups, session length, and returning users demonstrated higher user engagement and increased time spent on the site
Higher Signup Rates
Improved user satisfaction led to higher signup rates
